Backup & Restore

Openza Tasks automatically backs up your local database to protect your tasks from data loss.

Automatic Backups

By default, Openza Tasks creates daily backups of your task database. You can configure the backup frequency in Settings.

Backup Frequency Options

FrequencyDescription
HourlyBest for heavy users who make frequent changes
DailyRecommended for most users (default)
WeeklyFor light usage or when storage is limited

Enabling/Disabling Auto-Backup

  1. Open Settings (gear icon in the navigation rail)
  2. Go to the Backup page
  3. Toggle Automatic Backup on or off
  4. Select your preferred frequency

Manual Backup

Create a backup anytime from the Settings modal:

  1. Open Settings > Backup
  2. Click Backup Now
  3. The backup appears in your backup list

Backup Management

Viewing Backups

Your backups are displayed with:

  • Date shown in calendar format (day and month)
  • Time of creation
  • File size

Download Backup

Export a backup to save externally or transfer to another computer:

  1. Find the backup you want to download
  2. Click the Download button
  3. Choose a save location
  4. The backup is saved as a .db file

Restore from Backup

  1. Select the backup to restore
  2. Click the Restore button
  3. Type RESTORE in the confirmation dialog to proceed
  4. Restart the app when prompted

The typing confirmation prevents accidental data replacement.

Restore from External File

Restore a backup from another computer or external storage:

  1. Open Settings > Backup
  2. Click Import Backup
  3. Select a .db file from your computer
  4. Type RESTORE in the confirmation dialog
  5. Restart the app when prompted

Backup Storage

  • Backups are stored in your app data folder
  • Up to 7 backups are retained automatically
  • Oldest backups are deleted when the limit is reached

Best Practices

  • Keep auto-backup enabled for peace of mind
  • Download important backups to external storage
  • After major changes, create a manual backup
  • Before restoring, download your current data first
